But the self is not something one finds, it is something one creates.<br \/>\n&#8211;<em> Thomas Szasz, &#8220;Personal Conduct,&#8221; The Second Sin, 1973<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Kabir &#8211; The couplet<\/strong><br \/>\n??????? ????? ???, ??? ???? ?? ???? |<br \/>\n??? ??? ??? ??? ??, ?????? ???? ???? ||<\/p>\n<p><strong>transliterated:<br \/>\n<\/strong>Kasturi kundal base, mrig dhoonde ban maahi |<br \/>\nAise ghat ghat Ram hai, duniya dekhe naahi ||<\/p>\n<p><strong>Translation:<br \/>\n<\/strong>The musk deer has its musk inside, yet hunts the fragrance all over the forest |<br \/>\nSo also Ram (realization) is inside and all around us \u2013 and yet we see it not||<\/p>\n<p><strong>My understanding:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The most profound things in life are often the easiest to find \u2013 if we can slow down our racing thoughts enough.<\/p>\n<p>We are fully equipped to find our place and purpose in this world \u2013 if we can quiet the furnace of our thoughts and focus on the consciousness inside us.<\/p>\n<p>Our true greatness is not in what we do, but rather in what we can do and the reason we exist.
